Lake Life, But Make It Premium: Kington Grange Water Quality

You know your water’s in good shape when it scores closer to tap water than your average lake. That’s exactly where we’re at.

Yes, you could almost drink from the pond at Kington Grange (but let’s not make that a trend, please). We’ve had the spring-fed pond tested—both with home kits and by an independent professional lab. The verdict? Crystal clear and seriously clean.

In fact, our water quality is better than most lakes, rivers, and reservoirs, and nearly brushing shoulders with UK drinking water standards.

Science Meets Swim Season

Why does this matter? Because safe open water swimming isn’t just a lovely idea—it’s a growing movement. As extreme weather events mess with water quality elsewhere, it’s more important than ever to know what you’re diving into. And here, you’re diving into something special.

On 22 January 2025, samples were tested against EU and UK bathing water standards (those fancy rules that keep your swim safe and bacteria-free). Here's the highlight reel:

  • E.Coli? 0 (Yep, zero.)

  • Total Coliforms? Just 8 (compared to the 500 limit for an “excellent” rating).

  • Intestinal Enterococci? 1 (the threshold for “excellent” is 200).

So yes, we’ve smashed the thresholds set for open water bathing—and we’re not far off the strict zero-tolerance levels for drinking water.

It’s Not Just About Bugs

The tests didn’t stop at bacteria. We checked for metals, nitrates, chlorine levels, pH, and even conductivity (which tells you how pure your water is). Bottom line? Everything came back within healthy, safe, and swimmable limits.

Swim Confidently

We take your swim seriously. That’s why we’re proud to say that every splash at Kington Grange happens in some of the cleanest open water around.

So come for a dip, a float, or a wild swim adventure—and do it knowing the water beneath you is just about as clean as it gets.
